I LOVE THIS GAME AND LAST TIME I PLAYED I GOT THE SLAY THE SPIRE REFERENCE ITEM AND IT IS THE COOLEST ITEM BECAUSE IMAGINE A RUN WHERE YOU DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
Started out with a nunchaku rare item, so decided to meme it and ended with a nunchaku. Surprisingly overpowered when you forgo everything in your inventory but this for the first 2 areas. Just a casual 1 stamina 20 dmg. :)
Hercule Pavise is broken with the Fox Rapier and the Shield Spirit.
OOH boy that was a lucky run though.
I was on my way to best my personal best which was 25 floors, (as a matter of fact, I am absolutely certain this build could have carried me all the way to floor 45 at least) but because it was past mid-night where I lived I kind of dozed off and made very reckless stupid mistakes after stupid mistakes.
My first mistake was to discard the My First Wand because I dealt so much damage to enemies that healing became irrelevant.
My second mistake was to discard my legendary energy wand due to lack of space which was a carry early on.
My third mistake was not to pick the candle, I took the knives instead.
Because of my third mistake, when I had encountered the Blademaster, I triggered his spikes dozens of time because of all my weapons and my cleavers (In the screenshot, I lost 3 of them due to curses), so that alone made me take in damage half my 90 health points, but because I was in endless the enemy dealt way more damage on top of that.
Because of my second mistake, I got overwhelmed by cursed enemies by not being able to kill them quickly enough. Those extra energies would have helped me a ton to deter off enemies from casting their curses.
Because of my first mistake, I could not recover any of the health I lost which could have carried me for a few floors.
Please, if anyone out there gets as lucky as I did in my run I want you to try to go as far as possible with a similar build to mine's. I want to see how truly overpowered this build was.
I LOVE THIS GAME !!!! I think there is a tiny issue with the Nunchaku, it seems like that the self damage calculation is a bit off, it seem like when something (in my case it was the ruby that gave all the near by item +4) was placed next to the Nunchaku, the self damage also become 5 (1+4) which so not seems to be the expected result. i did not get a screen shot for that though......
Cool, so in that case, the damage to self was not implemented every time in some position it is not implemented as intended at least when the two item are the ruby and the Nunchaku......
Saw other comments and tried Assassin's Dagger + Hercule Pavise. It's insanely overpower.
Floor 162 and still going strong, killing most of the enemy groups in the first turn and none have survived the second turn. But combats have become too laggy for me to want to continue anymore. Oh well.
First turn damage 186k+ total
Could've scaled even more if Gold replaced with another Crimson Energy.
I think what happened here was that connected Hercule Pavise shields would trigger each other multiple times but the dagger only once, hence giving only +1 stopwatch while piling on debuffs
Two golden whetstones, and yet I was still stuck with that uncommon wand... Berserk ring carried for a while, but it ended up disabled in the end. Without the dodge from the armor though I wouldn't have made it so far, so it is what it is. Rip. I also always forget that damn mana totem isn't conductive.
Pretty impressive how it still manages to progress even past magma core+ without a single forge on the way. The only source of haste is an armour, no rage generation, no damage scaling except the initial boost with the ring and at least damage doesn't decay because I've finally found rare shield around floor 14 (using legendary before :D). Queen cleaver appeared approx. the same floor as the shield:)
P.S. Wouldn't be possible without whetstones, saved my run pretty much.
1.- That's funny but ya, that's something that should be fixed. 2.- I don't think that's a bug, enemies who get rage per shield activation will, well, do exactly that (take is as a downside of spamming shields), now, it makes sense that every shield only get to use positive effects once per turn, otherwise you could get a ridiculous amount of haste, given you have 1 haste per shield, or in the case of cleavers (rage), they would be WAY stronger than they already are. 3.- It makes sense that you can only kill the Elder Mage in one turn if it's a literal one shot because it is a very fragile boss, and it's supposed to be a boss, not an enemy with slightly more HP. But i agree on the fact that vampirism shouldn't trigger the dodge effect with that boss, i have never been in that situation but hitting the boss for the 1, 2, 3 vampirism damage for it to dodge your BIG damage sounds horrible.
2 and 3 are both definitely problems, and for the same reason; it's important that when the same language is used for different effects they work the same way. The two effects on the Shield Spirit both use the same language to describe when they activate, therefore they need to both activate under the same conditions. If the player had an item with the same text as the Elder Mage's ability, it would cause them to dodge every second damage source in a turn, not all but the first; therefore the Elder Mage's ability should work that way too. Consistent use of language in effect descriptions is vital to a game like this.
The issue with vampirism counting as a separate damage source isn't technically a bug, it just causes problematic interactions due to ordering (and changing the order in which the damage sources trigger doesn't solve it, it just changes which specific situations have problematic interactions). If it were me, I would change vampirism X from "deals X damage and heals for unblocked damage dealt" to "this item heals for unblocked damage dealt up to a maximum of X" and give most or all of the items with vampirism X an additional +X damage bonus (that would keep the total damage and potential healing the same, but unifies the damage into a single damage source - technically a small buff, but much more consistent in its behavior).
This archer's wand build is incredibly fun and powerful! Next to zero lag considering it's primarily mana, and I only failed because I ran out of mana. 350+ damage per energy and it worked as early as floor 4, doing like 120+ damage per energy cause of that sexy bomb relic
It would be cool if there was a way to counteract Poison without taking damage at the start of the next turn. Maybe a potion or item that immediately dispels Poison once it's applied, sort of like Dodge but for poison.
You still take damage by poison right before your turn starts and you can drink the self-status potion. It's unavoidable and a big crutch on endless runs where a single poison tick can take away all your health without you having the chance to remove it.

Honestly I don't understand what I'm trying to achieve with this. I don't get how cleavers work at all despite going a this run for so long..

Welp, ig this is as far as i can go. Can't beat that chunk of hp with this. Could've been better if i had a better wand. Still, a very nice run.

Damage to self from items that increase the weapon's damage ouput is intentional. The same thing occurs for the Berrserker's club.
Cool, so in that case, the damage to self was not implemented every time in some position it is not implemented as intended at least when the two item are the ruby and the Nunchaku......
I got the DEFECT/ROBOT TOY reference

Also the kill count on the dagger has glitched.
i-
Try this again with the addition of the Fox Rapier in your inventory.
Hmm, but fox Rapier doesn't scale, and Block is capped at 999 anyway so there's no reason to add even more Block to it.
Unless threre's some other interactions I don't know about?
I think what happened here was that connected Hercule Pavise shields would trigger each other multiple times but the dagger only once, hence giving only +1 stopwatch while piling on debuffs
Don't know why it's like that tho
u are god
I LOVE THE SLAY THE SPIRE EASTER EGG
What?! there is a easter egg for slay the spire?!
Yes there's actually an item in the game, based off of it. A mana item.
Belt of knives with a bow feels like cheating...
...and I love it
I killed the Grandmaster in one turn with this (Granted, I did also cheat even more by giving myself +6 energy with water bottle and bad food)
Two golden whetstones, and yet I was still stuck with that uncommon wand... Berserk ring carried for a while, but it ended up disabled in the end. Without the dodge from the armor though I wouldn't have made it so far, so it is what it is. Rip. I also always forget that damn mana totem isn't conductive.
press m
spikes ftw! is there any item that boosts structure block or multiplies spike gain?
haste adds +1 block to each item that has block
The coral and the spiked scale are much better than the helmet and the roses, and they are both compatible with the shield.
The coral doubles the spikes of the shield each time it is used. The scale esclusively adds +1 spike each time the shield is used.
A tiny bug. Had the event of trading an item for a different one of the same rarity. It ended up giving me the same exact item back
So im here because of the spiffing brit.
the armor really needs upcapping.
turn 2 having over 1000 and its wont count it.
Haste on the mini shield, rage on the wand.
In the end, i couldnt strip the poision off fast enough

Will we eventually summon creatures?
I died from spikes. I got to floor 15. This was a shield run. It would have been better if I got the hercule pavise.
"Accept what you get, organize." - Matthew
here lies king...beaten to death by a teddy bear...
rest in pieces...
i was feeling too lazy for a pic, much less endless
I am very happy, my first infinate run went well. I'm happy.
survivability?
get a wand (the silver one if possible) and maybe if you got the bunch of knifes relicit would still work wonders
when your build is that lame that works (poison is very harcordly good)
i know right. i love me some poison ivy...helped me up to floor 21 a few time
"Activate Windows" is the most OP part of your build. =D
You know you can delete that in the Registry, right?
Just passed floor 150, no signs of stopping.

i should go endless with this build and just make it broken, but i'm just lazy XD
I can see the future, and it's this shield in general.
that is amazing..
The ultimate achievement is getting pickaxe and filling up your whole bag with gems, dealing 1000 damage in one turn!!
Can't think of a better pickaxe setup other than some gem improvements. Can't wait to start endless with this setup!
I died because of a curse and the game broke. I was not able to take damage, I could still scratch tho. When I reorganized, I just died.
what i do i am "broken" i am unlucky with the stop watch
How is feather cap a legendary? For anyone who doesn't know what it does, +2 block each turn per space underneath.
The elder mage is so unfun, please remove him or make him attack you atleast .. NoT ranged attack tho that would be the nail in the coffin!
emerald bracelet dosent stack sometimes
Only one of them are adjacent.
Adjacent, not diagonal

It has, the cleaning hag helps with low quantities and the self-status potion eliminates it completely.
