Bow/arrow with stacking damage per item use(arrow by bow) and glass cannon. Sadly i won't be continuing the run since this boss is gonna took 4ever to kill due to how his dodge works.
it's a good endless run that sadly I didn't get much useful relic to power the run.
first time beating the game since I always force mage build, and it finally worked!! I had a thorn helmet on top right and threw it away for gold and hope for a better helmet but the game never gave me one which cost me the 13th floor boss fight :\. This game is soooo fun, not like other games which makes you mad when you lose. Love it!!! Might try archery build next. Should I use multiple arrows? I feel like my space always runs out when trying archery build.
This was insane, went through the whole game with 16 hp, but wand does 46 to all enemies with 2 mana, and if I can't kill something with all my mana, I can do 51 damage with the axe for 1 gold, as many times as I can afford. Nice game!
QA gang in the thread. Not sure if it's intended (or if you have it tracked), but 0.5 poison ticks down to -0.5 and further to the negative values. Would've provided proofscreens, but itch doesn't allow me to for some reason :(
So does the game not actually save because I was in the deep caves and refreshed my browser by accident and completely lost all progress. I'm not worried about it though; it is a demo and I Look forward to when the game officially releases on steam
Edit: Everytime I refresh the page it doesn't save
wanted damage staff but not needed. healing staff for healing, queen cleaver that uses other cleavers, warrior's spellbook for more damage and mana, ninja costume for a dodge every turn for the cost of no block allowed, windmill for extra energy, conductor and gems for more damage. staff on the left is useless because of cleavers and feather cap also useless cuz of ninja costume. overall is a fun build
played a bit of unlimited and it became even stronger. another ninja costume for another dodge so you can survive infinitely as long as the enemies doesn't attack more than 2 times in total per turn and rogue helmet for extra insurance.
ninja costume gives 1 block per turn and rogue helmet give a dodge per combat (its kinda like a consumable but it will refresh every combat). the strategy is to kill any extra attacks that your dodge can't prevent then your good to go, as long as you don't get one shot by an enemy you can get back to full health in 1 or 2 turns. the only bad opponents are spike, but as long as you have enough dodge you will never die so you can take your time.
Running magic builds is such a pain because you have to click ever single charge, it'd be nice if there was a use all connected charges option. It'd also be nice if there was some indication of which items are forming a curcuit.
Maybe these things exist and I'm just unobservant, but if they don't they'd be a nice include.
i have math and impatient issue jks aside it's a really awesome game the backpack mechanic makes items not too broken and makes for some interesting decision-making
I recently had an idea for countering the burn effect. It would be interesting to have an "alum" item that makes every adjacent & diagonal piece of armor remove burn rather than simply block it (alum is used to make flameproof cloth in real life).
This was a super weak and silly run. I have no idea how I managed to get that far.. even had to fight King.. who could do nothing but watch as I scaled infinitely out of reach. lol
I did see a couple black smiths so spear had 2 rage and shield had haste. Just took my time and had a bit of fun with it.
Ended up dying to the Bee Queen though as her workers just ignored my armor and murdered me via curse and poisons. Never really found a good weapon.. just clubs and spears and arrows but no bows.
So sad that all my progress was gone. So the game rely on cookies or something like that to save, then apparently my saved files was glitched. Now once I click "continue game" into the game, the game seems to be glitched and I cannot play anymore but startover......
WebGL doesn't allow the dev to write a file to your PC to save, it only allows the writing of a cookie. And cookies suck and are super unreliable for saving.
I just lost a game because webGL allowed my right click to create a hidden context menu in the browser that I then clicked on, forcing the page to go back, and it didn't have a save from the run.
I can't wait until the standalone build is available, either here on itch or on steam. (I already kickstarted)
Love the game so far even if I havent been able to save at all. Will definitely pick this up on Steam when it is eventually ready for launch. Had an incredible time on my third run after ignoring mana and wands the first two runs. Run finally ended on the lava floor in endless mode against those salamander men.
Didn't get a single permanent energy relic or gem, or the assassin hood :(
Finally ran out of consumables as well. The queen's cleaver in the centre spot has +4 rage generation per use from smithing upgrades. Initial damage is 634, each attack adds 456 additional damage.
This is definitely my messiest build since I accidentally stumbled upon a loophole with the Hourglass Relic when trying to do a magic run. Despite the +200% Bonus Damage, the main problem with the Hourglass is that my weapons will become useless over time due to losing -1 Damage permanently every time I used it.
That is until I found out that the Eternal Shiv from Eternal Staff and Eternal Blade from the Blade Summoner doesn't permanently receive the -1 Damage after the battle ended.
Also even though the Eternal Blade uses 2 energy per attack, I've gotten Shield Spirit Relic as one of my second drops and found out that if I use a shield with the Eternal Blade next to it, it would use that weapon for just 1 energy. And since the Windmill increases my energy from 3 to 4, that means I can technically use Eternal Blade 4 times in a single round. Which is how I immediately blitz through the King before he gets to summon anyone.
Another Relic that I got from the King that help me get through a few floors in Endless Mode is Sandwich combined with Old Log and Seasoning, which let me heal up 15+ HP with every Herb, and even more with any other consumables. Shame that it didn't last me long enough since I don't have anything to continuously prevent Poison Damage and it ended my run when it went over my Max HP.
King fight is poorly designed. There's no counter play for mass attack builds against infinitely stacking thorns, save taking the candle which otherwise is pretty useless. Lame way to end an otherwise face-roll run by hitting that kind of a wall.
Yeah, but you're still dealing with the fact that each swing is stacking thorns indefinitely. That also assumes you have enough mitigation in the build to deal with his amplifying basic swings that he's throwing out most turns.
And to edit my initial gripe I found cleansing potion worked well in the absence of candle. It still feels lame to need to assume you're going to fight a mechanic present on only two enemies in the whole game, and lame for builds that are scraping by up to the point because it's a massive, arbitrary difficulty spike that requires a very, very specific solution. It feels like lazy difficulty tuning, and little would be lost if the spikes fell off every turn.
Absolutely agree! My strongest runs have ended due to me basically killing myself from hitting him too much then not having enough armor to counter the 35 damage swings he’ll build up to. He forces people to play a specific way every fight and makes a lot of builds useless, hopefully they balance him out
Got to the toad wizard boss in the enchanted forest thinking my armor build was unbeatable and then got stomped by poison, that sure was an eye opening experience lol! This is an amazing game, I backed on kickstarter seconds after finishing playing!
Fun! And Challenging!...Start of with a small inventory then grows as you progress, but mindful on what you carry in your inventory...think think think

I had insane fun with this build. This is the furthest I got and probably can go if I just grind.
Unfortunately is seems like 'Golden Whetstone' (gold bar) that upon use give 25% bonus damage.
Cornerstone of this build:
Sandwich: gives healing consumables +200% extra healing
3 Seasoning: gives +5 healing per for every consumable
Spice: gives +3 rages per consumable.
Old log: upon use (1 action point) produces a herb.
So combination of above 4 gives a herb +45 heal and +3 rage per use and refreses the couldron.
With enough time it can give +30 to +40 dmg for the weapons per hit after about 15 turns.
Additionally, Couldron plus the philosper's stone can give extra action points when you need it if there are disposable consumables.
Most likely there are other better builds. But this just happened to click well together.
In any case, thanks for the game. :)
Great game, I really enjoyed the various synergies that the game gives you

just wanted to share this archer build
I JUST BEAT THE GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME!!
nice
Today it stopped working.
just an absolutely excellent game idea

try manually saving, and usually if i refreshed the page i just click continue instead of start so i get back my run
uhh, is this supposed to mean it halved the modifier or base plus modifier?
On the Emerald +2 (in your case)
On your weapon +1 cause 50% of all Modifiers
You understand now?
halved

+1 Block:
One Block per Enemy?
or
One Block per Turn?

i stopped the run because all enemies have over a thousand health and it was taking forever to kill.
Thx but i found it Out fir myselfi Just tryed it Yesterday

Ive loved the game. Is really engaging. Love the art, and love the mechanics. Is really fun and adictive.
very addictive game. this is the best run I had so far, got killed because the monsters hp is to high for my damage.
Game is great, inability to save (without notifying you it failed) was sad for my megashiv run
I love the mechanics and the graphic style of this game! :D
So, weird interaction I noticed between Ninja outfit and Haste, something tells me that getting 500 defense is not intended behavior
Realized after the fact, the texts looks fine, removes 500% of armor, weird wording, but not incorrect, here it is actually in action
And another example for good measure
This time, they're from the same fight, right before and after end of turn, you can even see the skink taking it's poison damage
I recently had an idea for countering the burn effect. It would be interesting to have an "alum" item that makes every adjacent & diagonal piece of armor remove burn rather than simply block it (alum is used to make flameproof cloth in real life).

Pickaxe is op and Bombstone is the worse relic that I saw
Candle is the second worse relic
Beat the King with this
This was my build. Ring of Doom+Stopwatch combo is insane.
Maybe could've gone further with a better weapon, but never dropped anything better. Also paladin sword seems bugged - forever anchored.
This Image hurts my finger
Longbow, 3x arrows, stopwatch, glass bottle, Token of Energy, Mouse Wood, Barbell
Once enemies health got too high, my build wasn't able to keep up

Woah! You made Guncho. That's an awesome game!
