The build is being pretty good so far, still looking for more rare cleavers.

Cleavers are growing, Butler with +2 haste, King cleaver with +3 rage that procs 8 times with belt 51 times per turn

Bit of a bug in the tool tips if you use something a lot (I definitely did not use the club 5 million times)
Also infinite damage (1 hp at a time).

cleavers are good I love cleavers

(1 edit)

Personal best, floor16.

does luck do anything?

(+1)

more chance to get rare items

(+1)

i think it makes you more likely to get better stuff after a fight ends

Any tips someone can give me for getting past king?

archer is the easy way through the game

either do archery, or get a shield with haste and shield spirit using only 1 weapon, there really isn't much to get around spikes besides candle or a strait up haste shield, archangel armor and a haste shield could do it.

or you could get a regenerative whetstone with a shield spirit, and out regen his damage, cleansing potions also reset his spikes and rage so there is that option.

(1 edit)

WHETSTONE+NO ENERGY WEAPONS IS KINDA OP

how about this

(+2)

totally normal amount of block for floor 4

my backpack (both archangel armors are from the same memory event)

(1 edit)

i had a great magic run (it would not let me upload the screenshot) i was doing like 80 dmg per shot with the wizard staff but i forgot that mana did not regen at the end of your turn and i could only scratch him and i died. i was fighting the beaver boss on floor 6

A couple cleavers

Thanks >:(

Time Magic setup

Amazing and creative game. Congrats to the people involved.

I died to a pair of bats. I was hoping for a shield spirit or archangel armor, but I didn't get either.

Is there any way to join the testing team? I wishlisted on steam and I'd love to help but missed the Kickstarter by a day!

nooooooooo my (real) best endless run has ended :(

also guardian ring gets affected by haste meaning its op

6 Things I Want in Backpack Hero!

Is there any idea make this build better?

It is tanky but not high damage

튼튼하긴한데 딜이 안나오는 빌드가 되어버렸습니다

뭔가 살릴 방법이 없을까요?

You can use duck tape to attach more shields to the daggers. Secondly, you should actually only use one dagger, since your damage comes from getting kills you barely get any additional damage from the other daggers. It might be to late to fix that though. Just duct tape more shields to the daggers.

why duck tape? duct tape is slightly common duck tape is more rare like the key skins they aren't affected by luck meaning duck tape is harder to find

each shield will cause connected weapons to make a weapon attack one more time, if you have 8 shields touching a weapon through duct tape and a pavis then that weapon will do its damage 8 times, for the Assassin Dagger having multiple shields with duct tapes can get you to floors upward of 60 on its own, then it's just golden whetstones and Max health.

(1 edit)

Duct tape makes accessories, shields, and other things activate their specific traits through it, so it extends the effects of whatever is touching it to the spaces adjacent to the duct tape, which makes them loop, which is why cleavers work so well with duct tape.

Thank you for your advice, i will going to try it

Finally beat the game with my one-turn-kill-all magic archer (felt a bit too powerful). Still a very fun game, though!

Mechanics strongly remind me of Slay the Spire. Another fun title. I hope for more diverse enemies in the full game, as beating the same enemy combination with the same fight combo happens a lot to me, not matter which build i use...

That is a bit boring.

5 energy structure with 2 meals and 1 water bottle with etherial wetstone=1turn kill king

oh cool no weapons required just a lot of energy

Hahaha. A failed Cleaver run where I ONLY got gold cleavers, cleavers, and jack cleavers. Found the lucky rings to late xd.

shields up!

I found a glitch that allows you to never lose.Health Glitch

how

But actually, how?

You need to get all of the backpack slots (I tested it out) then get really low in a fight but not die. Then find the guy that done the chance games and roll the wheel. When you get a curse die to it. instead of clicking retry and restating the game just click on your map and continue.

Cleavers r so op lol. I had 116,771 damage on 1 energy and I had 7 energy on the first turn so you can imagine how ridiculous that would scale because it does exponentially more damage each energy. My very basic estimate is that the 2nd energy is probably somewhere between 500k and 1mil dmg and I don't even want to go to past that. I abandoned the build on floor 136 because it takes so long to finish each attack even after the enemies are dead. The only enemies that could survive the 1st energy where the floor 9 bosses in endless. My build was 5 duct tapes surrounded by 11 king cleavers, 4 queens, and 1 heart gem for healing. I had 5 legendary yellow little buckler shields on top of the row of king cleavers, and then I had 4 chef's hats and 2 curse-energy bracelets and two small curses, and then belt of knives, stopwatch, cleansing flame, and shield spirit. It was WILD.

I've got an Assassin Dagger with 23 golden whetstones, and 16 rage on it, with 12 Pavises around 6 ducttapes attached and my dagger doing 16592 damage, I'm on floor 358 still going strong, was forced to pick up 2 red hoods, 3 Dodge masks a regen whetstone, and a poison ivy to gain max health as curses started doing 600+hp and i needed health, the builds you can do in this game man, they are awesome but you just dont have a way to survive after the dudes start doing 300 above your max health.

the higher floors are crazy but its so rng, I've never played a game where you can go through 30 floors and there is only one item your looking for and all you do is check how much health have i gained or how much damage does my weapon do now? Its rather busted but hilarious.

Sables are the bane of my existence though, what enemy does 2,107 damage in one turn? now that is stupid man.

im definitely going for an assasins dagger run next because that is much faster than cleavers

Be prepared for the wheel of fortune to make you a have a gambling addiction, those golden whetstones man, they are so enticing that you end up getting near death for them.

Yeah I spent about 400 gold trying to spin a chef's hat and didn't get it lol

(2 edits)

i have 1004 gold right now and 2006 health, if i can actually get a third wheel of fortune with a golden whetstone on it i could get cursed 3 times without dying, which means that if i could raise my 675% multiplier up to atleast 800% or more, i would be able to throw away 2 pavises and a duct tape to have 3 red hoodies! more hp! more Floors! i want to get to the floor where the guys start doing 999 damage, right now at floor 380 they do around 780+

Sables are still the bane of my existence.

i have found a new Bane to my existence, Gerbal Ruffians and Voles.

Is there anyway or anywhere I can give you some money and get in the steam prerelease? I hadn't heard of this until after the kickstarter was over unfortunately, but I've become enamored of this web build and have played it so, so much.

Okayy I have a bit of criticism I'd like to say.

I. Am. OBSESSED with this game. It's so addicting, I play it every day. I get past the final boss nowadays almost 100% of the time. BUT, there IS one thing I dislike about the game, a simple quality of life change I feel is necessary. When you have a build with lots of mana, and use ONE item/wand to deplete it, using up every. single. little. piece of mana takes a CENTURY. It is soo long. I love this game, literally so much, it's so so good, but this needs an update. Maybe... holding the item down would sap connected mana fast? 'Cause it takes so long. Just so so long.

Look at this build, for example. A ton of mana, one use for them (the Ring of Doom) every use of mana, shows a little feedback on what exactly it is affected ([Ring of Doom -> connected weapon] x3) which is fantastic! It's so clear, so easy to read, but when you're there. Clicking. WAITING for that feedback to finish so you can click again, it gets a bit much. Way too long. I mean, I could read a whole book before I get all that +2 DMG for each mana stone. This goes for wand builds too. Anything with magic takes too long.

I love this game a lot!! Seriously, it's literally so good :D these builds are a drag though :P

You can make the animation speed faster in the options menu.

Yeah i wish for that feature too!

how do you defend vs BladeMaster😭😩

(1 edit) (+1)

Reorganize before combat so the shield is somewhere else, tank until the spikes are gone, reorganize and more the shield back on a turn where they block, use shields 4 time every turn.

Looking for a new bow build to try out? Try this ethereal bomb arrow build!

first time reaching 100 hp

Will there ever be a legendary cleaver? maybe named Ace Cleaver ..... :P you know it's downside/ positive would be it takes up 2 space

maybe but, cleavers are already good as they are for example

  • can go infinite in endless
  • is op with certain artifacts
  • can scale on damage

adding an legendary is like pouring 7 cups of water in a pool it will add water but it already good without the 7 cups of water (i did testing and this confirms it even if the pool had no water to start with) one of the few ways that a legendary cleaver to be added is when cleavers get nerfed (like a minor nerf to add the legendary cleaver but how would it activate anyways)

and plus the itch.io version (not sponsored) will not get updates the only way for you to get updates is to get the beta steam version (from the kickstarter that ended a while ago (rip to the people who didn't make it)) or to wait

most item types (like bricks) dont even have an legendary even accessories dont even have a legendary (i think)

anyways good job reading all of this my hand hurts now :p

Uhh emerald bracelet, charmed bracelet, crimson energy, beserker's ring, pacifist's ring, ruby, vampire crystal, gemstone heart, regen whetstone, golden whetstone, coal, duct tape(also if you use cleavers you should know duct tape), and cursed whetstone and i think that's it.

nice i can use pacifist's ring

Did a thing

hmmm

the only thing i see is a pair of gauntlet

or maybe because i never saw that 2 spear

btw sorry for my bad english

this build is hilarious lol

miner strat goes brrrrrrrrr

but how tons of brick in the backpack be that useful ?

(1 edit)

ye. pick axe builds are powerful until it comes to blocking. i once made one and only died from curse damage stacked with being attacked.

This is the first build that went "infinite" for me, which really just means I could repeatedly beat all enemies I came across though it did require a lot of patience on my end. Smack them with a spiked club enough times to get the machetes and shivs to ridiculous amounts. Wipe the foes out, using coal to refresh the big sweeps as necessary. Never really needed the shields in the end but then again, didn't find anything else I wanted more.

My usual issue is poison. This build dealt with it by never giving enemies a turn to do anything much less poison me.

(1 edit)

you know if you if you have the rage necklace you will have 1 damage to you done each turn to trigger the hoodies so you don't have to worry about taking damage from enemies then you will be a god until release I mean not like the rage itself is going to help but just the point of taking damage at the start of the turn would be helpful enough. also you could try and get a poison whetstone to deal poison to enemies quicker but hell if you're really doing a berserker poison build you really don't need the hp you could skip on all health upgrades get to floor 1000 and have the "threat" of being oneshot XD

The berserker club actually still did 1 point of damage to me per swing and then healed me 2 with the two gems, so I never needed to let the enemies deal me any damage. Never risked giving them a turn. Honestly, by the end, I didn't need the hoodies, nor the shields. They were just there for fun.

Just found out the hard way that wands are not ranged...

why the hard way instead of the easy way (testing)

drag

I call it the drunken curse build. It got me through the grandmaster in the first turn since I had 60 gold and kept getting cool and frothy drinks from the keg. Though it gets really hard past level 10. At what I have right now the cursed sword only does 60ish damage per swing and the whetstone doesn't help too much. But it is still pretty fun to play with and it's pretty unique as well. It's not the most powerful but I would give it a shot.
