I guess the rarity only cares about how novel the item is not how good it is. For example, jagged sword is worse than some other weapons that aren't legendary.
Big curse seems really unbalanced to me. Taking up four spaces and the only way to get rid of it is either hoping for rng to give you a medic or charmed bracelet which is a horrible legendary otherwise.
I will say i have a similar set up and im getting about 140k on turn 1 and im on level 158 and i am still murdering. So its probably not worth it to keep going

How does everyone always have so many duct tapes and chefs hats for cleaver runs? I went to floor 18 and didn't find a single duct tape. I got 1 chefs hat. I had 3 lucky rings on for 6 floors. Help.
No it's still a thing. The only thing that was changed was the same save having different items in a chest, but if you walk around before opening a chest, you can still get different items. I used it to save scum to get a regen whetstone.
This game is SO good, in all aspects: the differing yet balanced costs to use items in combat, the large number of niche builds, the balance of being fairly serious but with plenty of humor in the item and character descriptions, the amount of detail put into the pixel art, the perfectly balanced music-- this game has so much going for it, and I have yet to find anything that I feel needs to/could be improved. I get SUPER annoyed by the curses and by being set on fire to the point of taking 80+ burn damage in one turn, lol, but NEVER enough that it feels like a design flaw. Wonderfully, WONDERFULLY designed game!!
There is a bug that happens when you go to a merchant, but you have not clicked on them yet to access the store. If you start rearranging items, the merchant will take gold from you, but not restore it if all you did was move items around.
What is the thing that occasionally happens when starting a new run that gives a boost like 1-2 items or more health, and is there a way to force it to happen
Press M, that shows an old rat that gives you an option to become an archer, get more max hp, get a rare item, and lastly give you two uncommon items. Hope this helps!
Could someone explain the purpose of duct tape and the crooked arrow? I dont understand what duct tape does, and I dont see how the crooked arrow is better than the regular one.
Crooked arrow gains benefits from both of the row's it ocupies so if you want to trade even more space for maximum arrow damage (excluding trading all your space to max out electric arrow) you can. Duct tape allows effects to travel farther than normal for example say your doing a cleaver run you can have the max number (except for one spot of duct tape) of cleaver connections on a king cleaver and then that duct tape could carry other cleaver effects to and from the king cleaver. Or with duct tape you can have more shields connected to herculeus.
I'm really enjoying the fish sword build! The fishes double as health boost in dire times. The sword's damage is quite high from early to mid game! Having a stop watch or a ring of rage helps out a lot when finishing floor 9.
depending on how much rage you have forged on to your weapons, you may want to consider taking tusk over the +25% to connected weapons. the only issue is tusk would lock everything into place so you would need to be dead set on your positions.
Gold cleaver would be better adjacent to the gold in the bottom right instead of a normal cleaver to give 2 buffs, its not a lot but it is something. You could move one of the hats to 6th column and re arrange armour accordingly to hit 2 cleavers instead of 1.
If you could potentially free up 3 spaces for a red energy you would increase the damage by a bunch, the more energy you have the better belt of knives scales. If you are planning on killing in a first round salvo coral becomes less useful and weak becomes less useful.
Ultimately getting one healing gemstones instead of the whetstone is more energy efficient even if it heals for less overall.
Eventually replacing the shield + rings with 3 bucklers + 1 Hercule would be ideal. It would also trigger more cleavers.
Thats my actual build at lvl. 35 (5 lvls. later than before)
Sadly I only found one forge - which gaves me haste on the knight shield earlier. I'd love to found one ore two with rage:) atm my left jack cleaver got 3 golden whetstones. The regenerative whetstone saved me more than once in this run. Which is, why I'm atm not willing to sacrifice it, until i found one or more forges or better cleavers. I'd rater play a bit slower, than risk to lose this run :p That is also the reason why I sacrificed my belt of knives, cause it just count for the round insteat of the hole fight. Coral also leave several battles before for the third guardian ring. But now, since i've found a hercule it is kinda useless. But i keap it until some better is coming up.
Your Idea with shields and cleavers are good, but my luck seems to have weekend too :p
But anyway thanks again - got to go and punish some more badgers with my cleavers :p
This is round 1 on level 29 endless, 1900 damage, 226 block, 640 spikes, 30 rage and 20 haste.
Fishing for a few more bolts and a small cluster of king/queen cleavers to round out my weaponry.
Would love to find the ethereal energy wand to replace my curse setup. Gives me 4 extra energy every turn and the two crimson energies give me 2 continues energy.
So far all I do is click the middle Hercule Pavise and the rest happens automagically :P
Perhaps a full small bolt build allows me to remove the cleansing flame so that might save a spot. I really want to get more poison into the build but I think the only item here for me to get more poison is the blacksmith and hope he wants to do a weapon so i can add poison to my bolts. That would give me another 2 spaces to work with.
The issue with this build which is the issue with a lot of builds is that it only scales during combat, which means as the health of enemies scales your initial salvo does less of the % or max health and eventually it will take you more rounds. You might not take damage, you might be able to remove poison, but eventually the snakes will start doing 100+ poison on second round and will have 30k+ health you might be able to cleanse 30 poison but you will eventually die to that. The only scaling I have found keeps up with the health scaling so far is Assassin's Dagger as a solo weapon, taking every kill and every buff.
Yeah i just noticed that on floor 47, that is where i died in 2 turns to 90 poison.
I cleared out my inventory too much for early energy after that screenshot, and then i decided to drop one of my hercule pavise and i was then sorely lacking both the damage and scalability. i could survive the poison if i had more room to bring a few anti poison pots.
This build turns into a macro build more then micro. Depends a bit on your luck streak on NPC's later on if you get a bit of balance in the buffs you can get.
If I find a energy wand with this build it's pretty much GG though for a long long time. I can get 7 initial extra energy and then another 3 permanent energy round 2.
It seems I am getting much better at compressing bonusses into less slots and getting more long term items in time to scale so I am having fun. It's a shame i cannot get the steam client version right now because if that has proper saves i would love to go back to a previous load to redo the run from when i made 2 mistakes.

Shields will only trigger the attack once per shield, however they trigger the debuff as many times as they are used. seems to be bug, The issue is stacking Hercule Pavise's. See my build below I replaced everything with buckler for safe non-debuff infinite run.
yeah that probably works, but the problem is that the fact that this is a bug and you normally wouldn't need to go through such roundabout measures to avoid it
Once you stack your Assassin's Knife enough, rub it with some gold whetstones, all fights die with the 72 knife procs a round. I haven't been hit in so long that coral no longer serves a purpose, mirror shield also isn't needed, will replace with another buckler for buckler supremacy. Removed all spare Hercule Pavise's and those anti poison rags to reduce turn lag. I'm considering removing the gemstone heart as well so I don't get heal lag as well.
Managed to get much farther this time, it is surprising that I lasted this long. Still the usual problem with not getting the final relic (Windmill) despite all the boss fights. Got 2 Duct tapes, more cleavers (always prepare consumables for chef event), utilize the legendary shield (still could not find Mirror shield), found no Chef hat, and Coral.
Tried out the Assassin blade this time and it is useful against King by only using it at the start to get enough haste then switch to full damage later. Made a mistake in the boss fight and died, tried the quit and continue game trick but the cleavers does not act correctly despite shuffling around the items before fight. Local app is probably the only solution to that.
I really wish this game have some sort of guide on how to use some items, weapons, armor and etc. How am I supposed to know on what the hell does Tasty Fly do? Why not make a guide after you got that item, achievements or something that would make the game more understandable and more awarding.
lmao maybe try using context clues and also like tasty fly is the ONLY example of this in the game, if you hover over everything else it literally tells you what it does.
Got a cursed blade build up and running. really wish I'd had an opportunity to move it so it wasn't straight in the middle but oh well. Got a cursed shiv on floor 4 or 5 which let me generate all the curses I wanted. Got a ninja armor before I got to the king fight, so I absolutely smoked him. Fun, but not much actual scaling. Just super high raw damage
Very entertaining and unique concept that's actually executed quite well. I'm having troubles on just the second floor, but I feel like it's always my fault on something that I can improve on instead of the game being unfair. Very nice game, can't wait for the Steam release!
even before the attempted update to allow yo to go back to the shop and healer, the person who commented it had a good idea but its to bad it didn't get put in to the game.

though matthew (the rat) buffs you, fights are harder mainly at the crypt (the first area) and there is no tutorial area.

60+ I don't know the acutal number but that ^ is a crazy one turn damage count, nice job
Yeah cleaver run. Pretty much maxed out. Bout to restart. On floor like 160 and 1 shot everything except 1 boss and it almost 1 shits him
~500, but for the whole turn (3 energy) around 4k.
i think around 13k with arrows post-nerf

Your welcome and yeah as a cleaver main I instantly saw the use of duct tape but I slept really hard on crooked arrow until very recently.
Yeah I used to think crooked arrow was just a novelty item and didn't deserve rare but the fact that it can occupy two rows makes it good enough
